Windansea Beach

Underwater reefs and jutting rocks create fierce waves at Windansea; you’re more likely to find experienced surfers than families with small children. The narrow beach is a rocky landscape of smooth sandstone; those looking for endless acres of soft sand should go elsewhere.

The scenery of this secluded spot attracts admirers as well, particularly the romantic type. The historic and oft-photographed surf shack on the beach makes a popular backdrop for wedding photos and richly colored sunset shots. Located at the end of Nautilus Street, with a small parking lot as well as street parking. Beach is accessible by public transportation.

Surfing and swimming are allowed, but be cautious among the rocks and pounding surf. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer from 9:00a.m. to dusk.

This beach has no public bathroom facilities. Alcohol and glass containers are prohibited, and there is no smoking allowed on the beach or adjacent areas. Please no litter or excessive noise. No dogs allowed after 9am. Dogs permitted after 4pm in the winter and after 6pm year round.
