La Jolla is a popular place to be, particularly in the summertime.
Experienced visitors and residents know a little extra planning can go a long way toward to finding a good parking space.
La Jolla Parking Tips:
Parking is free on the streets of La Jolla. There are no parking meters. However, watch signs for one- and two-hour parking limits.
Don't gamble. Parking enforcement actively patrols the streets even in the winter months and tickets are not cheap!
Instead of sacrificing time and gas doing laps, take advantage of one of the many affordable parking lots throughout the Village.
Your best bet may be a parking lot so hidden that few people notice it. Turn downhill onto Coast Blvd. from Prospect and you'll find it on the left, across from the Cave Store. Vehicles over 6'5" won't fit in this one, though.
Once you do get to the Village, it's best to leave your car and stroll. Everything you'll need is within walking distance.
Heading to the beach? Consider La Jolla Shores, which has a large parking lot and free parking on adjacent residential streets. Even so, get there early!
