Every Sunday, the upper playground at La Jolla Elementary is transformed into a colorful, friendly and wholesome Farmer's Market. Come experience the community feel, with live music, handmade arts and crafts, diverse food offerings, and the freshest local fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
One of the largest and best farmers markets in San Diego, the Open Air Market continues to grow to become one of the premier weekly events for locals and tourists alike. Families and their kids can enjoy the live music, playgrounds, and spacious grass fields. The Market is open from 9am to 1pm.
This legendary comic institution has become famous as a road stop for up-and-coming comedians. In its heyday, the club was rumored to have Robin Williams, David Letterman and Michael Keaton all on the same bill. Today, the Comedy Store still provides night after night of sidesplitting laughs, by way of touring acts and local open mic nights.
There are two fantastic movie theaters located just outside of the village in nearby University City, and each caters to a different kind of cinema buff. With a dozen big screens, AMC La Jolla 12 features the latest box office blockbusters, with traditional concessions and digital surround sound. Across the street at Landmark Theater,, it's not uncommon to find obscure independent and Foreign Language films. Landmark is also known for its gourmet concessions, including what some call the finest popcorn in town. Both theaters are on Villa La Jolla Drive.
La Jolla is just a short drive from SeaWorld and San Diego Zoo. A little further south, Coronado, PETCO Park, and the USS Midway are easily reachable destinations by car and public transportation. Driving north, La Jolla is minutes from Del Mar Fairgrounds.
