Torrey Pines Golf

With more than 80 golf courses in San Diego county, it's easy to see why our region was named by Golf Digest as one of the world's top golf destinations. The sunlit fairways and temperate weather make just about every day a good day for golf.

Within La Jolla, you'll find three breathtaking courses that attract golfers of all skill levels year-round.

Torrey Pines Golf Course: When people talk about golfing in La Jolla, it’s likely they are referring to Torrey Pines. Perched high on a coastal bluff overlooking the Pacific, the two courses that comprise Torrey Pines are almost distractingly beautiful. With sweeping views of the ocean and natural canyon, good luck keeping your eye on the ball!

The national spotlight turns to Torrey Pines each year for the PGA Tour Farmers Insurance Open (formerly the Buick Invitational). Since 1968, the annual event has been held in La Jolla and draws the world's most elite golfers, including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh. In 2008, Torrey Pines was selected to host the U.S. Open Golf Championship.

The two courses at Torrey Pines are owned and maintained by the city of San Diego and both are open to the public. Among the amenities you'll find an award-winning golf shop, the beautiful Lodge at Torrey Pines, and multiple player development programs. These programs include lessons,  clinics, schools and summer camps, with  single-day and extended instruction provided by PGA and LPGA professionals.

La Jolla Country Club Golf Course: The La Jolla Country Club  offers a well-kept private  par-72 golf course for players of all levels. The course opened in 1927 and its hilly Kikuyu grass fairways and small fast greens cover 6,713 yards. The grounds feature a stunning clubhouse with multiple dining rooms and spectacular views. Located at 7301 High Avenue.

Spindrift Course at La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club: The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club offers a 9-hole, par-3 golf course for players from beginner to single-digit handicaps. Accompanying the 1,362 yard stretch, you'll find a practice putting green, chipping area and driving net. The club offers lessons and clinics for all ages, private video analysis of your swing, and complimentary use of golf equipment. The Spindrift Golf Course is located at 2000 Spindrift Drive.
